Claims Supervisor

This position is responsible for the supervision of a claims unit. This position will be based out of our St. Petersburg Corporate Office. We are looking for a team player who is a self-starter, detail oriented, customer focused and can multi-task in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for an experienced claims supervisor that can independently lead, manage and drive the results for assigned unit.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Work with management on plans to develop and implement processes and procedures that assist in improving overall operation efficiencies
  • Supervision of unit will involve claims of all perils including 1st and 3rd party
  • Supervise claims involving full range of perils (Fire, Theft, Vandalism, Hail, Wind, Plumbing, Lightning, Equipment Breakdown, Mold, etc.) and different policy types (HO3, HO4, HO6, DP, BOP)
    • Supervise all coverages (Structure, Other Structures, Contents, Additional Living Expense, Additional Coverages)
    • Work with represented claims: working with public adjusters, plaintiff attorneys and assignment of benefits contractors
  • Supervision will involve addressing property damages, loss of use damages, fraud investigations, subrogation, and liability.
  • Supervise staff adjusters and independent adjusters
  • Provide liaison services to assist sales/marketing with agents
  • Provide direction, approval and assist in handling of complex claims (large loss, ADR, represented claims, complex negotiations, etc.)
  • Participate in the hiring, coaching and development of staff adjusters
  • Provide training to staff adjusters and claim’s support personnel
  • Assist with the daily claims assignments, file audits, and customer complaints
  • Represent company at associations meetings, seminars, client visits
  • Handle Insurance Department Inquiries
  • Special projects and other related duties as assigned
  • Complies with all regulatory requirements for claim handling
  • Maintains adjuster license(s) and continuing education
  • Willingness to be flexible in schedule when needs arise

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • 6 years or more claims experience preferred
  • Prior supervision experience preferred
  • Professional designation preferred (AIC, CPCU, SLA, etc.)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Adjuster License required – Florida License (620)

  • Advanced policy knowledge and ability to evaluate and determine coverages
  • Advanced knowledge of reserving practices
  • Working knowledge of applicable statutes, case law and compliance needs
  • Solid foundation in understanding and managing claims expense
  • Advanced knowledge of Xactimate and XactAnalysis
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Full working knowledge and computer literacy with understanding of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Superior organization
  • Advanced analytical and math skills
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solving
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to use good judgment, be decisive and have outstanding problem-solving skills

 TRAVEL

  • The role will be principally based out of the St. Pete office on a daily basis. However, travel may be required for inspections, conferences, vendor meetings, depositions and other duties.
